Amal Foundation on Saturday distributed aid among the Cholontika slum fire victims in Mirpur.

The non-governmental organisation, which works to support and empower marginalised communities, distributed food and clothes among 1200 victim families, said a press release issued on Monday.

"The terrible fire has taken away everything, so it is our responsibility to help these people," said Ishrat Karim Eve, director of the Foundation.

After the relief distribution, Amal Foundation volunteer Faima Akhter Liana said, "Our organization always tries to help the needy people."

They urged wealthy people of the society to come forward to help return the victims' former position.
