All tourist spots of Rangamati closed for 2 weeks
The decision was taken to stop Covid-19 spread
Rangamati district administration has ordered to shut down all tourist spots across the district for two weeks as a protective measure to curb Covid-19 spread.
Rangamati Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mizanur Rahman made the announcement in an emergency meeting today.
The district administration also instructed to close all shops, businesses and markets by 8 pm.
The meeting also hinted that the two-week period may increase over time depending on the Covid-19 situation.
Bangladesh on Wednesday reported 5,358 new cases in the last 24 hours, which is the highest in a single day to date. Besides, the country reported 52 more deaths, the highest daily figure since 26 August last year from the deadly virus.
Besides, fatalities from the virus infection have surpassed 9,000-mark in the country. The number of Covid-19 cases now stands at 611,295.
Civil Surgeon Dr Bipash Khisa, Additional Superintendent of Police Tapas Ranjan Ghosh, Sadar Upazila Chairman Tapas Ranjan Ghosh, transport owners representative and media personnel were present at the meeting.
