All political activities banned in Chittagong College campus
The decision was made during the 154th emergency meeting of the college's academic council held today
Chittagong College authorities have banned all forms of political activities on campus in response to growing student demands for a peaceful academic environment.
The decision was made during the 154th emergency meeting of the college's academic council held today (1 October) and was announced through a circular issued by the institution's principal, Professor Mohammad Mojahedul Islam Chowdhury.
According to the circular, all political activities, including processions, meetings, and gatherings, are prohibited until further notice. The decision aims to preserve the academic integrity of the institution and ensure a fair learning environment for students.
Citing the negative impact of political events on the college's academic activities, Professor Mohammad Mojahedul told The Business Standard that frequent processions and meetings were disrupting classes, leading to reduced student attendance.
"These political events often create an atmosphere of fear among students and concern among their parents. To maintain a conducive learning environment, the academic council has temporarily banned all political activities on the college campus," the principal added.
On 26 September, members of Chhatrashibir were accused of attacking Chhatra Dal activists, though the student organisation denied the allegations, calling them "false and baseless."
Subsequently, on 29 September, students organised a sit-in protest with five key demands, one of which called for the banning of student politics on campus.
