55 conferred Joyeeta award in Chattogram
Five of them were conferred with the best Joyeeta award
Fifty five women from 11 districts under Chattogram division on Wednesday got "Joyeeta award" in recognition of their success in different fields.
Five of them were conferred the best Joyeeta award.
The Chattogram divisional administration and the women and children affairs ministry jointly organised the award giving ceremony at the LGED building.
State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Begum Fazilatun Nessa Indira as the chief guest handed over cash, crests and certificates to the awardees.
"We cannot develop the country without the development of women. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly to ensure their rights. The Joyeetas are the example of women empowerment and development in our country," said the minister.
"Child marriage is ruining the future of many women. Many are tortured by their husbands. We have to take stand against those," she also added.
Divisional Commissioner Md Abdul Mannan presided over the event. Secretary to ministry of Women and Children Affairs Kamrun Nahar, Director General of the Department of Women's Affairs, Badarun Nessa and President of Chittagong City Women Awami League Hasina Mohiuddin also spoke on the occasion.
