Four people died when two trawlers sank en route to an orosh (Muslim religious gathering) at a Darbar Sharif in Kutubdia, Cox's Bazar on Wednesday.
The incidents happened at the Mohona and Bedkholi's Tek area of Banshkhali channels in the Bay of Bengal.
The deceased were identified as, Md Akkas, 28, an Omani expatriate and Md Minhaz, 10, from Katharia Union's Bagmara village, and Abdul Malek, 50, and Abdul Jalil, 32 – both from Khankhanabad Union's Gundamara village.
"Both trawlers left from Banshkhali's Katharia and Khankhanabad, respectively, to attend an orosh of Malek Shah at a Darbar Sharif in Kutubdia when the trawlers capsized," said Officer in Charge of Banshkhali police station Rezaul Karim.
