Three siblings were burned to death in their sleep as a fire broke out at their residence in the remote Sabanghata area of North Harbang in Cox's Bazar Chakaria upazila on Monday night.

The deceased were identified Jahedul Islam Jihad, 12, Mim Akhter, 10 and Mitu Moni, 7, children of Jager Hossain.

Confirming the matter, Chakaria Police Station OC Mohammad Jubayer said that three charred bodies had been recovered.

According to locals, the fire started after midnight following an electric short circuit while four children along with their mother were sleeping inside the house.

Sensing the fire, mother Kajal was able to go out with one baby, but the three children remained asleep.

The house was burnt to ashes in the fire as the fire could not be brought under control.

After dousing the fire with a frantic effort, the charred body of three children were recovered.

Harbang Union Chairman Miranul Islam Minar said, "The fire service team could not reach the spot for being the place remote".

Police station visited the spot after the incident.
