3 killed as truck hits sidewalk in Gazipur
Three persons were killed and three others injured as a truck drove into sidewalk on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Gazipur's Mawna area yesterday.
The deceased are- Saiful Islam, 25, Jahangir Hossain, 25, Badsha Mia. They hailed from Mymensingh and Sherpur districts.
"The truck driver first hit the divider after losing control over the steering. Later he drove the vehicle onto the sidewalk around 11pm Thursday, leaving the fatalities," Manzoor Hossain, officer-in-charge of Mawna Highway Police Station, confirmed the matter.
The injured people were taken to different hospitals and the dead bodies were sent to the Shaheed Taj Uddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
"The driver of the truck, Badsha Sheikh, has been arrested from Raiganj upazila of Sirajganj," the OC added.
