3 killed in Pabna road accident

Three people, including two brothers, were killed when a speeding truck rammed into their passenger auto-van at Bhangura Upazila in Pabna on Friday afternoon.

The deceased are Emon Hossain, 18, and Imran Hossain, 14 – sons of the late Rashid Paramanik of Par Bhangura village of the upazila – and their cousin Summa Khatun, 13, daughter of Shafiqul Islam of the same village.

The accident took place at Tiktikipara on the Bhangura-Faridpur road when a Pabna-bound truck collided with a passenger auto-van around 1:30pm, leaving the brothers dead on the spot and their cousin injured, said Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bhangura Police Station.

Locals rescued the injured Summa Khatun and took her to Bhangura Upazila Health Complex where Summa succumbed to her injuries.

Acting on information, police rushed to the scene and recovered the bodies but the truck driver and its helper had fled the scene, the OC added.
