3 bird poachers fined in Satkhira
Police arrested the three along with four doves belonging to a rare species, an egret and air-gun
A mobile court fined three poachers in Satkhira, after detaining them for hunting rare species of birds.
The poachers were identified as Al-Amin, 23, Alauddin, 20, and Abul Kalam Azad, 24.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Shazia Afrin fined them with Tk9,000 each and in default 7 days imprisonment, while operating a mobile court at the UNO office at 10am on Monday.
Debhata Police Station Officer-in-Charge, Biplob Kumar Saha said, "Police raided the area and detained the three along with four doves belonging to a rare species, an egret and an air-gun."
Later, they were produced before a mobile court. The mobile court judge handed down the sentence under Section 38 of the Wildlife (Preservation and Security) Act, 2012. The air-gun used for hunting was also seized.
"The police will continue their operations against bird hunters," he added.
