2 Rohingya drug traders killed in Bandarban ‘gunfight’
The gang fired on BGB members prompting the law enforcers to retaliate
Two Rohingya drug traders were killed in a reported gunfight with members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Ghumdhum frontier of Naikhangchhari in Bandarban early Sunday.
The deceased are Md Yasin Ali, 30, and Hossain, Ali, 23 both hailed from Kutupalong Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar.
Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, Lieutenant Colonel Ali Haidar Azad, commander of BGB-34, said a team of BGB members asked a gang to stop while patrolling in the area. But the gang fired them prompting the law enforcers to retaliate.
Later, two bodies were found on the scene, Ali Haidar added.
The bodies were sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy, said Ghumdhum police outpost incharge SI Imon Kanti Chowdhury.
