Two officers-in-charge (OCs) of Teknaf and Sadar police stations in Cox's Bazar have been abruptly transferred to other work stations just a few days after their joining there.
A reliable source in the Cox's Bazar district police confirmed the matter on condition of anonymity on Thursday.
According to the source, Teknaf Police Station OC Abul Faisal has been transferred to Armed Police Battalion (APBn) and Sadar Police Station OC Khairuzzaman has been transferred to Industrial Police.
Recently, the people handed over Nabi Hossain, a yaba trader from Kharulia area of Cox's Bazar Sadar Upazila, to the police after beating him up.
Later, the police provided him with primary treatment and kept him in custody. At one stage, his physical condition deteriorated and he died on the way to the hospital from the police station.
In this incident, Cox's Bazar Sadar model police station OC Syed Abu Muhammad Shahjahan Kabir was withdrawn and attached to Sylhet Division. Later, Inspector (Investigation) Khairuzzaman was given the current charge. At one stage, on August 18, the district police appointed Inspector (Investigation) Khairuzzaman as the OC of the police station.
On the other hand, OC Abu Faisal replaced OC Pradeep, who is currently suspended for being involved in the retired Major Sinha murder case, and took responsibility of Teknaf police station.
Prior to Teknaf, he was the OC of Chandina police station in Cumilla. OC Abul Faisal took charge as OC of Chandina Police Station on November 5, 2016.
