Two drivers were killed and at least 15 others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and truck in Khutakhali Medhakocchopia, Chakaria on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway on Wednesday noon.

One of the deceased drivers has been identified as 35-year-old Liton, son of late Shahjahan from Bhola's Charfasson area.

"One of the drivers died on spot after a Chattogram-bound bus and a Cox's Bazar-bound truck collided," said Officer in Charge of Malumghat Highway Police outpost Morshed Alam Chowdhury, adding the other driver succumbed to his injuries en route to the hospital.

He further added that many more were injured in the accident and sent to the hospital for treatment.

According to eyewitnesses, a man named Saiful – an alleged source of the Dulahazra Highway Police – caused the accident while he was chasing the truck to extort its driver.
However, OC Morshed Alam Chowdhury denied the matter.
