18 cosmetics traders fined Tk13 lakh

A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) conducted drives at Dhaka's Kazi Akramul Plazza and Habibulla markets on Thursday.

For preserving and selling fake cosmetics, the mobile court fined18 traders Tk13 lakh.

"Many corrupt traders have been selling fake cosmetics for a long time without the BSTI clearance. Tipped off, we conducted a drive and seized fake cosmetics of TK5 lakh," said RAB Executive Magistrate Aktaruzaman.

The traders have been fined under the Bangladesh Standard and Testing Institution Act 2018, he explained, adding that the mobile court did not arrest them as they paid money instantly.
