The country's total voters has stood at 11,17,20,669, according to official data revealed at a function at Nirbachan Bhaban here today on the occasion of the National Voters Day. Of them, 5,65,98,005 are male while 5,51,22,223 female.

Speaking at the function, Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda said: "I hoped that Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukder would speak something on the occasion of the National Voters Day. But he gave political statement and continued undermining the EC."

Since the joining of Talukder to the EC, he has been making negative statements about the EC and it was not exceptional today, the CEC said, adding, "But he (Talukder) works and makes statements independently and the EC never obstructs his work." Claiming that Talukder does not work in the interest of the EC, Nurul Huda said the commissioner does everything possible aiming to gain personal interest and implement a specific goal and tarnish the image of the EC.
