At least 11 people have been killed and many others injured in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a truck at Barobazar area of Kaliganj upazila in Jhenaidah.

The incident took place around 3pm on Wednesday, Somoy TV reports quoting Kaliganj Fire Station Officer Mamunur Rashid.

The bus was heading towards Kushtia from Jashore when the truck collided with it coming from the opposite direction.

Mamunur Rashid said on information, they went to the spot and recovered 11 bodies from the spot.

The rescue operation was underway, he said, fearing that the death toll may rise further.
