10 hurt, over 50 houses damaged as tornado hits Brahmanbaria

At least 10 people were injured and more than 50 houses were damaged as a tornado struck Sarail and Nasirnagar upazilas of Brahmanbaria on Saturday morning.

The injured were sent to the local health complex. 

The upazila administration said suddenly a tornado swept over Kuchnibudda village of Sarail's Noagaon union and Paschimpara in Nasirnagar's sadar union and Sreeghar and Ashurail villages in Burishwar union at around 8:15am. 

The tornado which lasted for a few minutes also uprooted many trees and damaged several boats anchored in the river.

On information, both the Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNO) visited the affected villages.

Sarail UNO Abu Saleh Md Musa said the tornado hit Kuchnibudda village of Noagaon union in the upazila in the morning, leaving 16 houses badly damaged. Necessary steps will be taken after assessing the extent of damage.

Nasirnagar UNO Nazma Ashrafi said a list of casualties was being made and that necessary steps would be taken as soon as possible to rehabilitate the victims.
